"r" USEF JUDGE
OWNER AND HEAD TRAINER
"r" USEF JUDGE
Elizabeth grew up riding in Westchester County, New York. As a junior, she competed successfully in the hunter and equitation divisions - qualifying for all major finals such as AHSA (now USEF) Hunter Seat Medal Finals, New England Equitation Finals, and ASPCA Maclay Regionals. Throughout her junior years, Elizabeth developed horsemanship skills by caring for horses on her family's small private farm, being a working student at a nearby show barn, and volunteering at an equine veterinary practice.
Once she aged out of the juniors, Elizabeth headed to Cornell University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. During this period, Elizabeth was introduced to the jumper world and rode her own "Kaiser" in the Amateur Owners. Upon completing college, Elizabeth dove into the horse industry as a professional and worked as a freelance rider and trainer. She campaigned horses in the professional hunter divisions at some of our nation's most prestigious competitions, and received ribbons at Devon, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and was even named Leading Hunter Rider of the Vermont Summer Festival Circuit. Then, for 3 years, Elizabeth worked for Olympic medalist Peter Leone at his Lionshare Farm in Connecticut. At Lionshare, Elizabeth had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a top-tier show barn while continuing to refine her riding abilities.
As a trainer, Elizabeth has brought pony, junior, and amateur hunter, equitation, and jumper riders to awards at shows like Devon, Harrisburg, Capital Challenge, Washington, and the Winter Equestrian Festival. Additionally, she recently obtained her "r" USEF judge's license and is eager to experience this sport from a new angle. Ultimately, Elizabeth founded Limelight Farm to turn her 30 years of experience with horses into a comprehensive program where riders can focus on honing their skills, gaining confidence, and having fun.
